Farmacêutica americana iniciará fase final de vacina contra covid-19
A farmacêutica americana Johnson & Johnson anunciou nesta quarta-feira, 23, que iniciará a fase final de testes de sua vacina contra o novo coronavírus. Os testes serão feitos com cerca de 60 mil pessoas em três continentes. A vacina da companhia americana terá apenas uma dose e será testada nos Estados Unidos, Brasil e África do Sul, entre outros.
A ideia da companhia é ter resultados dos testes já no começo do próximo ano — se forem positivos, podem levar a uma autorização emergencial dos governos ao redor do mundo. Resultados preliminares da última fase, no entanto, não devem ser esperados pelos próximos dois meses. Os testes acontecem após um estudo prévio que mostrou “resultados promissores” em relação à proteção americana e a J&J afirma que apenas uma dose dela pode proteger as pessoas da covid-19. Uma versão da vacina com duas doses será testada, provavelmente, no Reino Unido.
